Old Style Ball

A Major League Memphis Memories from July 21, 1935:
Lou Chiozza, who learned his baseball while playing for CBC in Memphis, tied a fielding record set in 1882 when on July 7 he handled 11 assists and had three putouts for the Phillies in a game with Boston.
According to Baseball-Reference.com, Chiozza played six seasons - mostly at second base - from 1934 to 1939, three for the Phillies, three for the then New York Giants, sporting a .277 lifetime batting average.

The record for most assists in a game by a second baseman is now 12 by many players.
